Glass Celing- Is America ready to break it?

The news of Mr. Barack Obama's win of democratic nomination was greeted by many with fervor and cheer and to me it was a moment of felicitation. But it made me ponder, "Did Mrs. Clinton lose as a presidential candidate because she was a women?" Is it a defeat of gender or a cover used by her supporters to hide their discomfort? Is it really the glass ceiling that led to her defeat or is it the excuse used by her admirers?

You are talking about a female presidential candidate who was, back in december, quoted as "already unbeatable" by many.

In my opinion, for the voters a fairer sex representing their nation was probably not a bigger issue than a darker race representing them. And this is evident in the final delegate counts for both the candidates as McCain is still far behind.

I sincerely believe that the issues facing America for which these candidates stand for are secondary. This is because none of the presidential candidates offer the complete president material package...and I could go on and on about that.

However, in Clinton-Obama game this, Obama's victory boils down to one elementary thing: Obama had a natural edge over the Clinton Campaign with his ability to connect with the people - and more importantly keeping them entertained and interested with stuff like his rhetoric "Change". Where Clinton lagged is her failure to accept the reality that she was not equally good when it came to public speaking. Does that make her a inferior presidential candidate? - not necessarily. Nevertheless it was very important to implement her trademark "innovation" for her own campaing strategy. She practically failed to understand that those days were gone where you have to deliver "Hitler" speeches to develop a following. In fact it was possible for her to counter such innate Obama skills with help of current technology , in an era where information spreads probably more than 100 times faster than 50 years ago. Of course, I am talking something more than www.hillaryclinton.com

It may be possible that even Obama does not realize this - and may be it will go unnoticed till the end as he takes on McCain.

As it is widely acknowledged, America is going through its worst. None of the presidential candidates offer the perfect president material. America is all ready to break anything - whatever Glass Ceiling of whatever kind. America is already pushing it whether it may be seeking the first female president or the first black preseident or the oldest president ever. The bigger question is where to find the appropriate candidate for all this make and break to be worth it?

I agree with all that you said Dhaval. Running for the highest office in the world takes a lot more than just change or innovation. But there is no one answer to all the questions. There is no black and white, but there is gray. I think its unfair to blame your gender or color for your defeats. As you mentioned there are more acceptable reasons for Clinton's defeat!
